Accounts Manager – Macclesfield
Salary: £42,000 - £48,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Clark Wood, a specialist in Accountancy Practice recruitment, is working with a leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Macclesfield to recruit a highly experienced Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager.

The Role

As an Accounts Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including small to medium-sized limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships across various sectors. You’ll be the main point of contact for your clients, ensuring that all accounting requirements are met efficiently and accurately. Your role will include managing workflow, supervising junior staff, and reviewing their work while offering guidance and support when needed.

While your primary focus will be on reviewing team outputs, you will also engage in hands-on preparation for more complex client cases as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.

  • Reviewing Limited Company Financial Statements.

  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts.

  • Overseeing work-planning for the portfolio.

  • Providing feedback and guidance to junior team members.

  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff.

  • Negotiating and agreeing on client fees.

  • Assisting partners and clients with ad hoc projects.

  • Acting as the primary client liaison.

  • Efficiently managing both your workload and team deliverables.

  • Participating in business development initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • ACCA/ACA Qualified (or Qualified by Experience).

  • Strong practice experience is essential.

  • Experience managing client relationships is advantageous.

  • Ability to review work prepared by junior staff.

  • Excellent communication skills to build strong client relationships.

  • Proactive and able to work independently.
