Location: North Bristol
Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Clark Wood, a leader in Accountancy Practice recruitment, is collaborating with a prominent independent firm of chartered accountants in North Bristol to find a skilled Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager to join their team.

Role Overview:

As an Accounts Manager, you will oversee a varied client portfolio, which includes small to medium-sized limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships from different sectors. Your role will be to ensure that clients’ accounting needs are met with precision and efficiency. You will manage workflow, supervise junior staff, and provide support and review their work as needed.

Although your primary focus will be on reviewing outputs from the team, you will also be involved in hands-on preparation for complex client accounts as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse client portfolio (number based on experience)

  • Review and prepare Limited Company Financial Statements

  • Prepare and review management accounts

  • Oversee portfolio work-planning

  • Provide feedback and guidance on team assignments

  • Support and mentor junior team members

  • Negotiate and agree on fees with clients

  • Assist partners and clients with bespoke queries and ad hoc projects

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients

  • Efficiently manage your workload and that of the team to exceed client expectations

  • Engage in business development activities

Required Skills:

  • ACCA/ACA Qualified (Qualified by Experience will be considered)

  • Strong general practice experience

  • Experience in client management is advantageous

  • Ability to review and assess work prepared by junior staff

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proactive with the ability to work independently
